African Stroke Organization Conference (ASOC)

When: July 16-17, 2021

Where: Bahir Dar, Ethiopia

The African Stroke Organization Conference (ASOC), will be the first dedicated cross-national annual scientific forum focused on cerebrovascular disease in Africa, with the overarching goal of bringing together key stakeholders, identifying gaps in knowledge, setting priorities for stroke prevention, care delivery & research, and accelerating translation of research findings to improve stroke outcomes in the region. ASOC is a collaborative initiative with the World Stroke Organization, World Federation of Neurology, World Federation for Neurorehab, Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases, World Hypertension League, African Academy of Sciences, Society of Neuroscientists of Africa, African Governments, local universities & hospitals, & Patient Support Groups. Various partners will provide financial & in-kind logistics, space, and personnel to support successful execution of ASOC. ASOC 2021 will focus on stroke epidemiology, community awareness, and stakeholder engagement.

Travel Awards for Early Stage Investigators 

In partnership with the African Stroke Organization and National Institutes for Neurological Disorders and Stroke, ASOC 2021 will provide Travel Awards for Early Stage Investigators (ESIs) in Africa to encourage and support their efforts in the field of stroke research.
