NCIRE's Impact on Veterans Veteran's Health Research Researchers by Name
There's no question that the San Francisco VA Medical Center, with the support of NCIRE, plays a major role in advancing veterans health care through research. The excellence of our NCIRE and SFVAMC investigators, all of whom are UC San Francisco faculty members, is fundamental to our success in developing cutting edge knowledge that will advance medical treatments of veterans and others, both locally and worldwide.

Measuring Quality of Patient Care

A primary aim of Dr. Jain's work is to identify and develop methods to measure quality of patient care. In past research, he and his colleagues found that computerized clinical vignettes-online simulated patient consultations-accurately measure the care that is delivered by physicians in clinical practice. Dr. Jain also works to identify ways to provide feedback to health care providers in order to improve the care provided to patients. In his research on curriculum and teaching, he works to improve instructional methods and to train physicians to be sensitive to the cultural backgrounds and language needs of their patients.
