Vietnam War Veterans, an estimated 30 percent of whom have had PTSD, present challenges to VA end-of-life care teams. In an California Healthline article, Eric Widera, Director of hospice and palliative care at the San Francisco VA Medical Center and UCSF professor in the Division of Geriatrics, comments on treating these Veterans with mental and physical health complications. NCIRE Researchers are currently conducting research related to PTSD as well as other related Mental Health areas. Read more.

A new music video by John Preston, a Marine veteran and country singer, highlights the unseen issue of suicide among women Veterans. He wrote "Before I Am Gone" about his own battle with PTSD and suicidal ideation, but puts a female face on the story to honor his sisters-in-arms. Read more.
